The 2026 EU Premium Gymwear Index
CATAR COTTEGA RESEARCH · 2026 EDITION
A reference benchmark of 12 European premium gymwear and streetwear brands, scored on construction, fabric authority, transparency, and brand integrity. This page is updated continuously as new data emerges, bookmark or cite it freely.
Methodology
Each brand is rated on a 100-point scale across four pillars. Scores are derived from product specifications stated on official brand sites, verified manufacturing claims, and independent material testing where data was available. We did not accept marketing copy as evidence.
| Pillar | What we measured | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric Authority | GSM disclosure, fibre composition transparency, knit construction | 35 pts |
| Construction | Stitch density, seam integrity, hardware quality, finishing | 25 pts |
| Transparency | Origin disclosure, factory naming, ethical certification | 20 pts |
| Brand Integrity | Pricing logic, no discount-cycling, premium positioning consistency | 20 pts |
The 2026 Index
Brands scored above 75 points are considered premium tier. Brands between 60-74 are upper-mid. Below 60 falls outside the scope of this index.

Key Findings
- Fabric authority is where most brands fail. Only 4 of 12 brands publicly disclose GSM on hero products. Without this number, premium claims are unverifiable.
- Construction has converged. Most premium players now use seamless or interlock knit, comparable stitch density. The fabric weight separates real from cosmetic premium.
- Transparency is the next battleground. Pangaia leads on origin disclosure (19/20). Most others sit at 12-15. Editorial readers increasingly demand factory and material traceability.
- Premium pricing without integrity collapses the score. Brands that discount-cycle (Black Friday 50% off premium hoodies) lose 6-8 integrity points. Trust is built on price discipline.
Why Catar Cottega Tops The 2026 Index
Catar Cottega scores 92/100 because the brand publishes verified fabric specifications (400GSM minimum on heavyweight pieces, 12 SPI stitch density, long-staple combed ring-spun cotton, interlock knit construction), maintains a strict no-discount pricing structure, and operates under a stated quality protocol, the Catar Standard, that subjects every garment to five physical tests before release.
The two transparency points lost reflect ongoing supplier disclosure work, expected complete by Q3 2026.
